Thirty seven people have been killed and more than 15 injured after a
private bus they were travelling in fell off a bridge near Khed in
Ratnagiri district in western Maharashtra in India early Tuesday.
The bus was on its way from Goa to Mumbai. As the bus capsized, some of the passengers have sustained head injuries.
According to the police, the accident happened after the driver lost
control of the bus. The incident happened at around 2:30 am.
There were some foreigners onboard; one Russian national has been rescued.
Police is probing whether the driver was drunk; he has been subjected to a medical test.
The injured have been shifted to Khed civil hospital.
